9 a.m. Fitting/Troubleshooting Multi-Focal Toric Contact Lenses (Contact Lens Approved)

Doreen Gaede

This course will review common errors made when fitting toric multi-focal lenses. Tips for rotation compensation and fine-tuning multifocal vision at all distances will be covered. Various multi-focal designs and their unique fitting tips will be presented.


10 a.m. Abbe Value and Dispersion (Ophthalmic Dispensing Approved)

Dale Clemens

Using the science of Light and Optics we will define and discuss Abbe Value and its relationship to refractive index and the color spectrum. We will provide techniques to assist in selecting the most appropriate lens material based on refractive error and its complexity.  As an overview, we will discuss ways to present different lens material to patients.


11 a.m. Increase Second­–Pair Sales (Ophthalmic Dispensing Approved)

This course will review techniques used to uncover the patient’s needs and opportunities for secon­d­– pair sales. It also will include the roles of the doctor, staff, and optician in identifying needs and opportunities. Techniques will include questions to uncover the need, questions to reinforce the need, and how to detail the various second–pair options to meet those needs.

12:30 p.m. Diagnosis, Diseases and Remedies (Dual Approved)

This segment will provide an overview of the ocular pathologies that are often diagnosed without remedy. We will review these conditions, how they are diagnosed and the choices that we can provide to patients. What will be interesting is to see how far the technology has come to diagnose and better offer remedies.
