Managing Gross Anisometropia – Professor Joseph Sollecito (Ophthalmic Dispensing Approved - Intermediate)

This course is designed to familiarize the Optician with the concept of Ocular Magnification.  A hands-on guide for the Dispenser to demonstrate the ability to bring a patient’s acuity as close to Natural Vision as possible.

Ever wonder what properties make up a 1.67 index lens or why large lens manufactures select the materials they do?  This session will detail how a combination of material characteristics create a more merchandisable finished lens on which you can rely.  Come learn a new set of words that better describes the underlying DNA of lenses, and the material they're made from for patient discussions.

Digital Healthcare & Telemedicine - Disruptive Technology for NYS Opticians – Laura Frezza  (Dual Approved – Intermediate)

Redesigning how Rx's are created.  A look at how this disruptive & innovative method of developing an Rx will become sustaining technology for the coming decade. This course will explore ground-breaking technology and products that are displacing established procedures and routine exams. Developing advance soft-skills will be critical to how you influence and enhance the way you communicate and relate to patients. In understanding what Telemedicine is, we can discuss the impact on Opticianry. Moving forward will require Opticians to embrace

uncertainty and foster a culture of collaboration between patient and their virtual exam.

Take an in-depth look at various situations dealing with Vertical Imbalance.  From all the different lens designs available today, the fundamentals still exist.  A discussion and examples will be shared on how much is too much, by calculating power at different meridians of influence.
